Direct Connect Connection

After you have wired the vehicle end of the cable to your vehicle, perform the following test:

.) Set your meter to DC volts.  (see picture 1 below)

.) Locate pin 1 on the Mobile-Trak side of your cable.  (see picture 2 below)

.) Touch black meter lead to vehicle chassis.

.) Touch red lead to pin 1.  (see picture 3 below)

.) When your vehicle is turned OFF the meter should read approximately 0 volts.  After you turn the vehicle ON the meter should read around positive 11 - 15 volts.  Then turn the vehicle back OFF and the meter reading should go back to approximately 0 volts.

.) If step 5 worked properly the ignition has been wired properly.  If step 5 failed go back and re-check your wiring.

.) Locate pin 2 on the Mobile-Trak side of you cable.  (see picture 4 below)

.) Keep the black meter lead toughing the vehicle chassis, and touch pin 2 with the red meter lead.  Whether the vehicle is turned ON or OFF the meter should always read around positive 11-15 volts.

.) If step 8 worked properly the battery has been wired properly.  If step 8 failed go back and re-check your wiring.

.) Set your meter to Ohms.  (see picture 5 below)

.) Locate pin 7 on the Mobile-Track end of your cable.  (see picture 6 below)

.) Keep black lead in contact with the vehicle chassis.  Touch red lead to pin 7.  The meter should read no more than 8 ohms.

.) If step 12 worked properly the ground has been wired properly.  If step 12 failed go back and re-check your wiring.

.) Now you have to check the fuses.  Start by locating the blue and red wires containing the fuses.

.) Open each black fuse holder by pushing the two sides together and twisting them counter-clockwise.  (see picture 7 below)

.) Look to see if the fuse has been blown out.  The thin metal wire on the inside of the fuse will be broken or melted if it was blown out (see picture 8 below).  If it has, replace the fuse.  If both are good (see picture 9 below), repeat steps 1-13.

If all of these tests passed click here.  If any of the tests failed re-check your wiring.
